A Rose By Any Other Name – Clearwater Florida Used Car Dealer Still Has Thorns

Posted on October 26, 2012 by Dana Manner

About six months ago, it came to my attention that a used car dealer in Clearwater, Florida was selling cars on eBay that have “clean” titles and vehicle history reports (e.g. AutoCheck or Carfax) that appear to be good, but car buyers need to read the fine print in this dealer’s eBay advertisements very carefully.

Buried in the fine print of the eBay Motors auction descriptions for “flautomall” is the following: (underlining added)

“Buyer expressly acknowledges that the Vehicle being purchased under this Order has been involved in an prior accident, that it has sustained damage as a result of such accident and that repairs have been done to it.”

This “disclosure” is not at all conspicuous, and appears at the bottom of a lengthy amount of “boilerplate” descriptive information about the car that appears to have been cut-and-pasted from Edmunds.com reviews of each model car that the dealer has listed on eBay.

Since the initial post about “Florida Cars” appeared on the MannerLaw Blog in April 2012, which featured a 2011 BMW 328i VIN: WBAKE3C59BE557334 offered when the dealer was known on eBay as “pinellasmobiles” we can see that the dealer still is offering this car for sale on eBay today, but they have changed their eBay ID for a third time and “Florida Cars” is now known on eBay as “flautomall” (formerly known as “leaseandfleet” and “pinellasmobiles”).

The dealer in question is:
